INCLUSIVE PASTORAL CARE

Pastoral care recognises the dignity of each person within the St Mary’s College community. ​​​​​​​

Through the pastoral care network, students are encouraged to set and achieve their personal and academic goals and to strive for high standards.

This gives students a sense of belonging to a strong sisterhood where needs are met as they progress through college. The well-being of every student is followed by the Mentor teacher, Subject teachers and Year level Deans. 

The Pastoral Care team includes a Guidance Counsellor, a supportive Learning Support team and Pathways/Careers Advisor.

Inspiring Leadership

Developing student leadership is an important focus. Students are offered many opportunities for positive leadership experience within a supportive environment 
at all year levels. 

At Year 13, a Head Student and the team of Deputy Leaders are assigned a leadership area depending on their interests, skills, experience and strengths. Areas of leadership include Special Character, Kaitiakitanga Māori, Arts, Culture, Year Level Leaders and, House and Sport Captains. Students can be elected onto the BOT at Year 12 and 13.
Each year level has two Year 13 Level Leaders who provide support for the students, working with them to organise events throughout the year and ensuring the overall well-being of students. This gives the students opportunities to form relationships and have fun outside of the classroom.
