Uniform Policy
The Uniform Policy authorised by the Board of Trustees requires that the following Uniform Code be followed:

UNIFORM  CODE

Uniform consists of the following items.  

  • Grey/black tartan skirt or black pants

  • White short-sleeved overblouse 

  • White, long-sleeved overblouse

  • Black College blazer

  • Black leather laced up school shoes 

  • Black roman sandals only

  • Black tights, white or black ankle socks

  • Sleeveless pullover, or long-sleeved black College jersey or College cardigan

  • St Mary’s College grey tie - Year 13 striped tie

  • Black College raincoat/parka 

  • Black scarf


Guidelines 

  1. On some occasions students will need to dress formally. Formal uniform is College blazer, white shirt, school tie, skirt or black pants and black tights.
  2. When travelling to and from school the College blazer must be worn at all times.
  3. Plain, predominantly black, bags or satchels are required.
  4. Hair should be of a natural colour. If the hair is longer than shoulder length it must be tied neatly back with a black or white ribbon or hair ties.
  5. Jewellery - A watch and one stud in each ear lobe is permitted. If students wish to wear a crucifix necklace or a piece of greenstone (pounamu)/bone Taonga that is acceptable.
  6. Body piercings – if students have piercings, these must be free of studs during the school day.
  7. Make-up and nail polish are not permitted.
  8. Sensible  choices of these items are made according to weather conditions. Black shoes should be worn in July and August in particular for health and safety reasons.

Permission for the variation to this Uniform Code must be sought from the Principal. 

Written submissions may be made on the basis of religious, cultural, ethnic or health considerations.
