SPORTS

Welcome to St Mary's College Sport

Sport has always been, and continues to be, an important part of our St Mary's experience. We continue to develop and thrive at our traditional sports of netball, rugby, basketball, rowing, football, volleyball and hockey.

We also offer, and encourage participation in, handball, water polo, futsal, badminton, cricket, golf, ki o rahi, touch and golf. We place great importance on our large number of social teams in a number of different sports. Each sport has a dedicated webpage attributed to it. Please click on the sport below to find out more.

A large number of students are often selected for either Regional, National or International representation. As a school we are proud that we can offer sporting opportunities from our elite athletes, through to our social participation athletes.

Our Sports Programme does rely on volunteers to create the numerous opportunities on offer and we are fully appreciative of all that our team do for our young people. We enforce a "no pay, no play" policy and all sports fees must be paid before the sport commences. Please click on the right tab 'Sport Policies' to read more about the sport policies we have at St Mary's College.

Being a member of a school sports team brings responsibility. Your daughter is required to:

  • Attend all practices on time
  • Attend meetings promptly
  • Wear the correct SMC uniform
  • Represent the school with pride and dignity
  • Show respect to their coach/manager, team and opposition
  • Once your daughter has registered for a sport, they are committed to that team for the entire season

If you have any queries or would like to be involved in supporting our Sports Programme as a Coach or Manager,  please contact our Director of Sport, Charlene Gubb (charlene.gubb@stmw.school.nz)
